In 1964, Leon along with his wife decided to make the move. They lived in New York City suburbs for the next 18 years. In 1976, Leon and his wife Sylviane separated. Leon went back as often as possible to France to spend time with Papa Henri and Maman Suzanne Ribouleau. They were recognized and honored by the state of Israel as Righteous Among the Nations by Yad Vashem World Remembrance Holocaust Center in 1977. After the separation, Leon continued to live close to his children. In 1981, Leon married his second wife, Patricia. Leon has one daughter, two sons, and 3 grandsons.
