When Henri reached his wife back in Belgium, they had a discussion that it might be in their best interests to move. The decision was made to travel to Switzerland and the family used an underground system to travel through Europe to their new destination. Despite Switzerland’s highly restrictive immigration policies, Henry’s wife and child were allowed to enter as refugees, but Henry was detained by the Swiss. Henry remained in a detention camp until the war ended on May 8, 1945.
