Grande Synagogue

Geneva, Switzerland

Leo moved to Geneva, Switzerland to officiate as a cantor in the Grande Synagogue.

After going to school and being a Hebrew teacher in France, Leo decided to move to Geneva, Switzerland. Leo states, “I then took a position at the Grande Synagogue in Geneva, Switzerland, where I officiated as cantor and taught in their religious school.” (Abrami, 147) Leo remained a cantor and teacher in Geneva for seven years. In his last year in Geneva, Leo married Rosemary, an American exchange student from San Francisco. (Abrami, 147) After their marriage they decided to move to the United States so that Leo could attend the Hebrew Union College in Cincinnati, Ohio.
