Battle of the Bulge

After the Invasion of Normandy, the 308th pushed further into France and continued upwards to Belgium. Tim describes how the African-American troops were discriminated by their fellow soldiers by stating, “The German Prisoners of War were allowed to eat in the dining hall with the white soldiers, but the African-American troops still had to eat outside on the ground.” As the company continued to push further into Europe, Timuel again was involved with another battle, entitled Battle of the Bulge, which was from December 16, 1944 to January 1945. The 308th Quartermaster Company suffered hundreds of casualties during this battle, but Tim was able to escape without ever being wounded. Timuel went through two of the greatest battles of World War II, but it would not prepare him for what he was going to see next.
